GARDEN ROOM WINS AIA CENTRAL STATES HONOR AWARD
Topeka, ks - september 2026
Adriana Perrone Architect is honored to receive a 2026 AIA Central States Honor Award for the Garden Room project.
Presented at the American Institute of Architects Central States Conference, hosted this year by AIA Kansas in Topeka, the Central States Design Awards recognize outstanding work from across a five-state region including Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. The program celebrates architecture that advances the profession through design excellence, innovation, and alignment with the AIA Framework for Design Excellence.
The 2026 jury was chaired by Colleen Healey, AIA, founder of Colleen Healey Architecture, whose practice is nationally recognized for its refined, modern residential work. Under her leadership, the jury evaluated submissions from across the region, selecting projects that demonstrate clarity of concept, rigor of execution, and meaningful contribution to the built environment.
The Garden Room was recognized with an Honor Award for its precise spatial editing, material restraint, and its ability to transform a modest residential condition into an immersive architectural experience. The project reflects the studio’s ongoing interest in creating quiet, intentional spaces that heighten awareness of light, landscape, and daily ritual.
This recognition places the project among a distinguished group of work shaping the architectural discourse of the Central States region and beyond.
